Private Dog Training

Obedient dogs make happy owners!

We offer private dog training where we can assure the complete focus is on you, throughout the training program. We provide expert guidance to help you learn how to enjoy your dog instead of always being afraid he may over-react and you won’t be able to control him!

We teach you how to teach your dog to ignore distractions in any circumstance and to control problem behaviors like pulling or lunging on walks. You will be able to take your dog anywhere and learn how to stop bolting through doorways, mauling guests or destroying property!

Do you love your dog, but don’t ‘like’ him very much?

Do you want a dog that all your neighbors admire instead of complain about?

Is your dog a day-care drop-out or has he been booted out of group class?

Do you want a dog that you can be proud to take anywhere?

If you are the owner of a dog who:

  • won’t come when called
  • destroys your possessions
  • is unruly on-leash
  • is rude to visitors
  • aggressive to other dogs

We can help you teach your dog:

  • to ignore other dogs or distractions
  • to stop pulling you on walks
  • to sit or lie down patiently
  • to pay attention to you
  • to come when called
  • to stop being a nuisance that nobody enjoys being around

1) Mayhem To Manners

Our ‘Mayhem to Manners’ private, in home dog training program enables owners to get ahead of problems in the older puppy or young adult dog (5 months to 18 months) before they become self-reinforcing behaviors. This training includes guidance on how to live with the dog in appropriate, constructive ways to maximize training efforts. We help create a meaningful strategy that provides for practical, effective handling and productive management that will directly impact the undesirable behaviors most owners encounter from young adolescent dogs.

Our training creates a clear means of communication through proper leash handling, positive reinforcement, and the correction of unwanted behaviors that produces willing, cooperative companions.

Obedience and behavior cannot be separated. Obedience is what a dog ‘knows’. Behavior is what a dog ‘does’. We use one in order to either enhance or extinguish the other.

Obedience is simply a way to communicate with the dog that assures predictable behaviors. An obedient dog is a mindful, enjoyable companion that willingly and happily accepts human leadership and guidance.

This 6 week program introduces the following obedience skills for reliable control on-leash and in the home:

  • To walk politely with the owner, not pulling and lunging on the leash.
  • To sit, lie down, and stand on command, even around distractions.
  • To retreat to a specified location like a dog bed and remain there until releaased
  • To return to the owner when called

Owners will be supplied with weekly lesson plans, video tutorials and training suggestions. We are as committed to your success as you are, and our private training programs reflect our desire to supply you with as much information and support as you need to achieve your training goals!

Lionheart K9 was one of the first to integrate virtual learning with hands-on training, long before the Pandemic. As a result, our personal coaching is an industry leader, and unparallelled in the dog training community.

Technology has enabled us to supply owners with real-time responses via virtual contact, email, or any number of other available resources. You won’t feel abandoned in the interim between classes! You can reach out to your trainer and recieve a response to your questions almost immediately!

2) Ultimate Companion Dog Training Program

Our ‘Ultimate Companion’ private dog training program is designed to help owners resolve not only a generalized lack of obedience, but to address behavior concerns such as leash reactivity (defensive aggression or fear) towards humans or other animals. Other issues, like destructive behavior or anxiety, are easily addressed by teaching the dog alternative actions for otherwise unsuitable behaviors. This training includes guidance on how to live with the dog in appropriate, constructive ways to enhance the training experience. We help create a meaningful strategy that provides practical, effective handling and productive management that will directly impact the undesirable behaviors dogs develop when allowed to practice them without consequence.

Our training creates a clear means of communication through proper leash handling, positive reinforcement, and the correction of unwanted behaviors that produces willing, cooperative companions and replaces unsuitable behaviors with more thoughtful, appropriate choices.

This 10 lesson program teaches the following obedience commands for reliability on and off leash:

  • To walk politely in heel position, regardless of distraction or temptation
  • To sit, lie down, and stand, accepting the proximity of distractions and temptations without protest
  • To ‘stay’ until released, regardless of distraction or temptation
  • To come when called, regardless of distraction or temptation
  • To retreat to a specific destination in the home and remain there until released
  • Many other useful skills integral to self control and harmony in a human home

Owners will be supplied with weekly lesson plans, video tutorials and training suggestions. We are as committed to your success as you are, and our private training programs reflect our desire to supply you with as much information and support as you need to achieve your training goals!

Training dogs with serious, anti-social behavior is not a recreational hobby. It requires a level of expertise and understanding that sets us apart. Many trainers will not take clients with aggressive dogs as a result. Our goal is simple- help you understand your dog more clearly, instruct you effectively and safely, and guide you towards success. Fifty years of experience enables us to do that.

3) Electronic Collar Training Program

Our electronic collar training program is an excellent alternative for the owner that is physically overmatched by their dog. Large breed dogs owned by smaller than average adults pose a serious safety risk. Any individual that doesn’t have complete control over their dog is at risk for injury, but owners that are physically compromised because of  size disparity or health issues are at greater risk.

Remote collar training is also an excellent alternative for dogs that suffer from hypoplastic trachea and other issues that commonly affect brachycephalic breeds like bulldogs, as well as any dog that has sustained an injury to the neck.

Electronic collar training has moved out of the dark ages and has become quite an effective, humane tool for communication without having to be weaponized by a lack of understanding.

Contrary to what social media would have one believe, they are not the tool of Satan, and are frequently the only hope for owners that previously had none.

We teach how to effectively incorporate this tool into training by teaching its use as a motivator, how to ‘shape’ behavior, and how to modify behavior. The dog learns that the stimulation from the collar means the same thing as leash pressure, and that the presence or absence of electronic collar pressure indicates right action.

Electronic collar training creates a clear means of communication through the understanding of ecollar pressure, proper leash handling, positive reinforcement, and the resolution of unwanted behaviors that produces willing, cooperative companions.

This program teaches the following obedience commands over the course of 5 weeks for reliability with the use of an ecollar:

  • To walk politely in heel position at the owners’ left side, with or without a leash.
  • To retreat to a designated location and remain there until released
  • To sit, lie down, and ‘stay’ until released
  • To come when called with or without a leash, regardless of whether distractions are present

Owners will receive training material and they will be supplied with weekly lesson plans, video tutorials and training suggestions. Success is contingent on owner effort and commitment to the training.

Electronic collar training is an efficient, humane way to enhance your ability to communicate with your dog. You and your dog can and will experience the freedom of living a life untethered!
