Bear the 9 week old GSD pup getting introduced to the terminal marker "yes".
Bear was just picked up from his breeder a few days prior to this, when his owner was called away with a personal emergency.
while he is here, he's going to learn his name has power, and it means good things are about to happen.
he is also going to learn that when he offers strong eye contact, he will be rewarded.
this is day one of his training. we will use this to help reinforce other behaviors he will be introduced to, like greeting people, sitting at doorways, walking politely on a leash, ignore distractions, and other things. -

Joint Group Class Training between Lionheart K9 and Show Me YOUR Dog in Baltimore
Joint Group Class Training between Lionheart K9 and Show Me YOUR Dog in Baltimore.
This group is comprised of dogs that are private lesson clients of either SMYD or LK9, three of our joint Open Class students, and several dogs who have only been instructed via virtual learning.
One of these teams is a guest from Maine, whose own dog was trained via Virtual Learning, handling a dog she had never worked with until yesterday.
What's the point of all this?
To show that good training is applicable from person to person, and dog to dog.
Regardless of whether you and your dog are working with a trainer privately, or in a group, the goal is to teach your dog to tolerate novelty.
Some of these dogs have bite histories. Some of these dogs are dog fighters. Some of these dogs are mature adults with protracted behavioral histories of inappropriate, defensive or offensive behaviors.
ALL of them have improved by virtue of a thoughtful process that takes them from arousal and spontaneous reaction to practiced obedience and tolerance for novelty, distractions or close proximity to triggers.
Are they perfect? No.
Are they improved?
Absolutely.

Remy the German Shepherd Dog is introduced to a neutral adult dog
Remy has considerable fear of other dogs. If left unaddressed, as she matures, she will become even more fearful and potentially dangerous around other dogs. Here she is introduced to an entirely neutral dog so we can help her "re-learn" her native language and teach her that other dogs are nothing to be afraid of.
Young puppies have a very small window of opportunity for socialization in it's classic sense, and what happens in this time frame profoundly affects what they become as adult dogs.
As trainers, we want these interactions to be positive and to be a helpful influence in a young dogs emotional growth. Bella will be exposed to mature adult dogs throughout her training, to help her overcome her fears. We deliberately do not allow her to interact with dogs of the same behavioral age range, simply because exposing her to bolder, more confident puppies is likely to reinforce her fear, due to their lack of self control and confident play styles. -

Young German Shepherd Puppy learns appropriate greeting behavior
Remy has a little bit of "stranger danger" and is inclined to urinate out of excitement or submission. We encourage bold, curious behavior, and are mindful of how we interact with very young dogs.
It is important for Bella to have positive experiences with strangers in order to help her overcome her fear, and become an outgoing confident adult dog. -
Lionheart K9 introducing an electronic collar to a dog for the very first time
This is the first session with electronic collar training for this dog and her kennelmate. The reasons owners choose an electronic collar for training are pretty varied: the dog may be resistant to training using more traditional methods, the owner is physically incapacitated and the electronic collar leverages their control over a larger, faster animal, or they wish to enforce behaviors without creating conflict. Either way, there are several things people need to understand about how to introduce an electronic collar to a dog, and this is generally how we start. -

The cutest bulldog puppy ever
Maisie the 8 week old bulldog puppy starts to understand that putting her mouth on people is verboten. She is too young to "punish", since mouthing is simply how she communicates and plays.
