Why Training Your Dog at Home Changes Everything

Group training classes ask your dog to behave in a strange place, around strange dogs, in a chaotic environment, with little to no personalized attention. That is not real life. Real life is your front door, your couch, your kids, your mail carrier, your fenceless backyard.

When training happens inside the actual environment where the problem lives, the dog learns faster, owners and pet learn together, and the results stick. That is the entire reason Lionheart K9 concentrates its Carroll County practice around private, in-home dog training.

  • Your environment, your dog’s real triggers. We work the actual doorbell, the actual fence line, the actual environment you live in.
  • People are trained, not just the dog. Learn how to to handle your dog more effectively — no mixed signals.
  • Managed exposure to triggers. Critical for teaching appropriate coping skills in high-stress environments.

Real Carroll County Clients. Real Results.

“I was so nervous I was going to have to give up my 5-year-old pitbull/boxer mix, due to her separation anxiety and overall lack of obedience in all situations. Linda helped us turn everything around.”

— Gina, Manchester, MD   ★★★★★

“Today, on my morning walk with Crash, I thought of you as I often do during my training walks. He was in a perfect heel at my side. I called Crash front. He sat before me with a perfect recall.”

How It Works

  1. We start with a Discovery Call or Virtual Consult. Every engagement starts with an informative phone call or virtual consult so Linda can understand your dog, your household, and your goals before booking. If we’re a fit, she builds a training plan tailored to your household — kids, other pets, schedule, and goals — and in-home training begins from there.

What It Costs

Every dog and every household tells a different story — so every training plan is built differently. Pricing depends on your dog’s behavior, your goals, and the level of support your program calls for.

That’s exactly why we don’t post costs: you deserve a plan built around your dog, not a number pulled off a price list. On your discovery call, Linda will walk you through what your program looks like and what it costs — no pressure, no guesswork, only what you need to make an informed, confident choice.

Tired of walking on eggshells in your own home? Done being dragged down the street, or bracing every time the doorbell rings? Call or text 717-880-4751 or book a free virtual consult and let’s fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you really only train inside my home?

Almost every session for this program happens in your home or on your property. We do travel off-site to measure progress, but it would be only after you and your dog demonstrated the ability to perform under additional pressure. Since in the home is where your dog’s real-life triggers live, then that is where the training should be introduced for it to actually stick.

How old does my puppy need to be to start?

We start as young as 8 weeks. Earlier is better — the critical socialization window closes around 12-14 weeks, and in-home training is the safest way to learn how to socialize a puppy without risk of exposure to parasites or other disease risks.

My dog is reactive / has bitten / has aggression issues. Can you help?

Linda has worked with aggression cases throughout her career and assesses every case individually based on our discovery call. We will tell you honestly whether we believe we can help your specific dog.

Do you train in Westminster and Eldersburg specifically?

Yes. Westminster and Eldersburg are our two highest-volume service areas inside Carroll County. We also serve the rest of Carroll County — call to confirm your address.

How much does private in-home training cost?

Programs are quoted after a free virtual consult because pricing depends on your dog, your goals, and the number of sessions needed. You will get ‘numbers’ with no pressure before anything begins.

How long until I see results?

Most clients see meaningful changes within the first few sessions. Lasting behavior change — the kind that survives stress, distractions, and life changes — typically takes a full program of several weeks, and continual practice afterwards. Remember, training can happen any time. Practice must happen all the time!
