Problem Dog Behavior Counseling in Maryland, Maryland Dog Trainer Solving Dog Aggression, Housebreaking, Chewing, Digging, Anxiety and More.

Dog trainer in Maryland specializing in Aggression, Destructive behavior, Separation Anxiety, Housebreaking

Coeur d' Lion also offers our exclusive K9-11 Dog Behavior Counseling for Mid Atlantic dog owners experiencing difficult or AT-RISK dog behavior problems, like aggression, separation anxiety, destructive behavior, crate training and housebreaking. Although it is generally accepted that the vast majority of these problems are readily and quickly addressed through traditional obedience, often an owner is unable to recognize a potential problem, nor are they capable of correcting the problem once it begins.

Our dog behavior counseling sessions are specifically designed to evaluate the existence of behavior problems and the likelihood for their resolution through a relevant dog training program. These counseling sessions are "stand-alone" services and are information rich. It is suggested that owners who request a problem dog behavior counseling session videotape the consult, so as to capture all of the information presented for further discussion, reference and clarity.

Dog behavior counseling is not a precursor to any of Coeur d' Lion's dog training programs, it is a "stand-alone" service where specific dog behavior problems are identified and addressed. Resolutions are provided within the capacity of Coeur d' Lion to do so in a one-time, stand alone service.

Problem Dog Behavior Counseling offered for a variety of problem behaviors:

These issues reflect the top 4 dog behavior problems that get dogs surrendered to shelters or abandoned to their fates on the streets to be picked up by Animal Control. These highly specific problem dog behavior consults are designed to impart the necessary skills to owners with dogs that may be demonstrating these behaviors or to avoid them entirely in the future. Coeur d'Lion's Problem Dog Behavior consults are designed to provide relevant information to avert, interrupt and resolve at-risk dog behavior and are not a prerequisite to any of the training programs offered. The fees for Behavior Consults are separate from any training program offered by Coeur d'Lion.

HOUSEBREAKING K9-11:

For any age or breed of dog. Strongly advised for the first-time puppy owner or for recent adult adoptees. Although the focus is primarily housebreaking issues, it also addresses proper management, feeding and exercise protocols. Average consult duration exceeds 2 hours.

DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR K9-11:

Specifically addresses the dog who destroys property, including chewing and digging. Successfully incorporates the appropriate uses of a crate during the training process with the ultimate goal being freedom for the dog and peace-of-mind for the owners! Average consult duration exceeds 2 hours.

SEPARATION ANXIETY K9-11:

Includes noise phobias and other anxieties associated with the departure or absence of the owners, while crated or at large in the owners home. Highly successful and sought-after information compiled in a concise and salient format. Consult duration is often longer than 2 hours.

AGGRESSION K9-11:

The Consultation for aggression is used specifically to ascertain the type of aggression and to determine the feasibility of a training protocol for the individual dog. Training of aggressive dogs, whether the owner is experiencing dog-to-dog aggression or aggression to humans is often mis-categorized and misunderstood. This is a counseling session based on experience with dogs classified as 'aggressive'. Whether it is based on a defensive, fear component or offensive, overt aggression; the underlying reasons are usually always misinterpreted by the owner. The Aggression K9-11 Behavior Consult is a realistic approach with definitive solutions for your dogs' aggressive behavior. Learn how to manage your dog correctly and safely and learn the tactics necessary to achieve alternatives to his aggression. Highly effective for the owner committed to resolving these issues. Consult duration often exceeds 3 hours, all adult family members must be present.

Dog Behavior Counseling rates are $300.00 plus travel expenses to Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Mileage is accrued at 1.00 per geographical mile. The K9-11 Behavior Counseling session entitles purchasers of this service to 6 months of unlimited email or phone support. Please call for additional information.

We offer guaranteed solutions to your dogs' behavior problems!

Clever marketing and slick advertising has tried to uncouple dog behavior from dog obedience for quite a while when in fact, the absence of obedience is usually always a predictor of bad behavior.

Let's put it this way:

If your dog developed the nasty habit of mauling your guests when they visit to the point that you lock him up outside or in his crate; you would certainly classify that inappropriate greeting behavior as a problem, right?

If instead, he greeted your guests with calm, polite behavior and allowed their attentions without jumping, mouthing or annoying them, you (and probably your guests) would consider your dog to be pretty obedient.

Let me be the first one to tell you that one facilitates the other. Obedience controls behavior. Obedience PREDICTS behavior and the lack of obedience is what causes all of the things you wish your dog would not do.

With that knowledge, it becomes readily apparent that in the absence of obedience, unwanted behaviors can and usually do occur. If you systematically reinforce obedience, the unwanted behavior either never materializes, is quickly interrupted and is eventually replaced by the behavior you desire.

This simple fact is the underlying principal to all successful dog training and the core foundation to our dog training programs.

Problem dog behavior is no more than a collection of learned behaviors that have been persistently reinforced either directly or indirectly by owners who A) reinforced it through a tangible reward to the dog B) ignored it in the hopes it would "go away" or C) did not address it with enough clarity for the dog to realize it is wrong, each and every time he tries it.

Here at Coeur d'Lion K9, we do not separate obedience from behavior. We utilize the natural impulses of dogs to channel appropriate behavior through obedience.

Our philosophy is "What is learned can be un-learned, what is done can be un-done". With a complete understanding of dog behavior and how dogs learn best, Coeur d'Lion K9 offers outstanding success with behavior problems in dogs.
